Defending the rights of individuals and professionals
APJ was founded in 1986 by GMF Group so that members could be more aware of their rights and defend them. France's second-largest insurance company offers individuals the guarantees and services they need to cover the most common disputes. It also provides collective agreements for the professional legal defence of local authorities and public institutions.

In 2008, APJ took over the personal legal protection business of MAAF Group.

Since October 2009, it has also taken on the professional legal protection business of the MAAF portfolio.
In all, over 2.4 million policyholders look to APJ for their needs in legal protection insurance (not including group contracts). APJ posted net income of 26 million euros.
